Built in Nottingham The Story Behind Traqr’s Receipt 2 Rewards

By Shaquel Kothari

From Local Idea to Local Impact

Sometimes, the best ideas don’t come from boardrooms — they come from everyday challenges faced by real businesses.

In 2024, Nottingham-based entrepreneur and developer Shaquel Kothari was working closely with Jimmy Killer Prawns, a popular restaurant in the city, when he spotted a familiar problem: customers loved the food but weren’t always returning as often as they could.

The team wanted a way to reward regulars without forcing them to download another app or carry another paper card. So Shaquel built something entirely new — a loyalty experience that runs through WhatsApp, using AI to make every visit rewarding and effortless.

The Birth of “Receipt 2 Rewards”

That’s how Receipt 2 Rewards was born — a loyalty system that lets customers earn cashback by simply scanning their receipt and chatting to the restaurant on WhatsApp.

There’s no app, no passwords, and no friction. Just genuine rewards that keep customers coming back.

Each receipt becomes a chance for restaurants to turn one-time visitors into loyal regulars.
And because it’s powered by WhatsApp — the app everyone already uses — it feels natural and easy for both customers and staff.

Real Results from a Nottingham Restaurant

When Jimmy Killer Prawns piloted the system, the results spoke for themselves:

  • 622 customers signed up directly through WhatsApp

  • 796 receipts processed

  • 85 repeat customers returning regularly

  • £78,223 in total tracked sales

  • £3,720 in active cashback (“Jimmy Bucks”) circulating through the restaurant

These numbers show what happens when loyalty feels simple, instant, and rewarding. It’s not just points on a card — it’s money customers can spend on their next visit.

📈 Growth Over Time: The Timeline of Engagement

The pilot began in early summer 2025, and within just a few weeks, customer engagement spiked.
The dashboard data shows consistent sign-ups from July through September 2025, with peaks of nearly 40 new customers in a single day.

This natural momentum proves one thing — when customers enjoy the experience, they keep engaging without needing ads or constant reminders.

Jimmy Killer Prawns’ loyalty program became self-sustaining: as more people earned cashback, they told friends, who joined through WhatsApp and came in to claim their own rewards.

That’s the power of designing loyalty around convenience, not complexity.

Designed, Built, and Supported in Nottingham

Every line of code behind Traqr’s loyalty system was written right here in Nottingham.
Shaquel built the platform himself — from the backend that processes receipts to the AI that chats with customers through WhatsApp.

And that local connection matters.
Traqr isn’t a faceless corporate tool — it’s Nottingham-built technology designed to help independent restaurants compete with national chains, without big marketing budgets or complicated systems.

A New Era for Local Loyalty

For Shaquel, the mission goes beyond software.
It’s about building tools that make loyalty simple, human, and fair — starting in Nottingham and expanding across the UK.

“I built Traqr because I wanted to give small businesses the same technology big brands use — but without the cost or complexity. Nottingham is where it all started, and it’s where we’re proving that loyalty can be done better.”
